Impressions Guide

Prepare first, test the tray fit and complete each impression carefully. Follow the instructions supplied with your exact kit.

Preparation

Before mixing the material

Good preparation reduces avoidable mistakes.

The instructions packed with your product take priority over this general website guide.

Do not start if you have urgent dental symptoms

Seek dental advice for pain, swelling, loose teeth, recent oral surgery or other concerns before using an impression kit.

Work on a clean, dry surface

Organise the trays, materials, timer, mirror and instructions before opening or mixing anything.

Test every tray first

The tray should cover the required teeth without forcing or pinching. Contact support if the fit is unclear.

Step by step

Take one impression at a time

Use a timer and do not rush the seating or setting stages.

Select and test the tray

Choose the advised tray and confirm it covers all required teeth before using material.

Mix for the stated time

Combine the components quickly and evenly, using the exact timing supplied with the kit.

Load the tray evenly

Place material across the tray without large gaps, then proceed immediately.

Seat in one controlled motion

Centre the tray and press it into position as shown in the guide. Do not bite into the tray.

Hold completely still

Keep the tray stable for the full setting time. Movement can blur the tooth detail.

Remove and inspect

Release the seal gently, remove the tray and check that full tooth shapes and gum margins are captured.

Repeat for the other arch

Use fresh material and follow the same sequence for the second required impression.

Photograph and pack

Send review photos if requested, then pack only accepted impressions using the return instructions.

Quality check

What a useful impression should show

A record may need to be repeated if important tooth detail is missing.

Full tooth detail

The biting surfaces and sides of the required teeth should be visible.

Visible gum margin

The record should extend slightly beyond the teeth as instructed.

No tray show-through

Thin spots where teeth contact the tray may be unusable.

No dragging or double detail

Movement during setting can create blurred or repeated outlines.

No large air voids

Bubbles over important tooth surfaces can hide planning detail.

Ask for photo review

If available, send clear photos before returning the kit.
